Mustofa Bisri as Indonesian language learning material in senior high schools. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method and content analysis technique. The primary data source was the short story Konvensi by A. Mustofa Bisri, while the research data consisted of words, sentences, dialogues, characters’ behaviors, and events related to the structural elements and character education values. Data were collected through documentation by repeatedly reading the text, recording relevant data, categorizing the data based on the research indicators, and subsequently interpreting the findings and drawing conclusions. The results show that the structural elements of the short story consist of theme, plot, characters and characterization, setting, point of view, figurative language, and moral message. The identified theme concerns social criticism of formalities and the loss of substance in traditions or bureaucracy. The plot follows a chronological progression, while the characters and characterization portray individuals confronting social systems and realities. The short story also presents settings related to community life and formal environments, as well as simple and satirical language. The study identified 18 character education values: religiousness, honesty, tolerance, discipline, hard work, creativity, independence, democracy, curiosity, national spirit, love of the homeland, appreciation of achievement, friendliness/communicativeness, peace-loving, fondness for reading, environmental awareness, social awareness, and responsibility. The analysis indicates that Konvensi is relevant for use as literature learning material in senior high schools, particularly in learning activities concerning the values of life contained in short stories.
Danu Miharja ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2026-03-30 2026-03-30 9 1 14 21 10.30653/006.202691.254
